Murray Completes Level 1 PECS Training

May 6, 2016

Krista Murray, a speech-language pathologist in Bismarck, recently completed Level 1 Training in the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).

PECS was developed in 1985 as a unique augmentative/alternative communication intervention package for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and related developmental disabilities. Murray learned the correct hierarchy of PECS targets and goals, how to most efficiently prompt children, and ways to modify the program based on individual needs. She found the course most beneficial in learning the PECS phases and the criterion for moving through those phases.
